- Flat Sheet - A flat sheet is typically a rectangular sheet used as a top sheet to keep the bedding and bedsheet clean. Bed adjustments typically do not affect the size of the top sheet.
- Surgical Sheets: Surgical sheets are made of 100% cotton fabric. They are washable and reusable. They are also autoclavable, so they can be sterilized using strong heat. These sheets are used during surgery.
One of the main things to keep in mind before selecting a hospital bedsheet is the size of the mattress. A hospital mattress is typically 6 inches deep however it can go up to 9 inches deep. Pressure relief mattresses can be even deeper.
Another crucial thing to remember is that if there is a mattress topper that is used, a gel or a foam topper over the mattress increases the depth of the mattress. So, it is better to measure the depth of the mattress after considering the topper, if any, as well.
